Pav Bhaji

Pav bhaji is a famous street side food originated in north part of India and it travelled through all parts of  India with its delicious taste and  flavor. Pav is a small bread and it is served with Bhaji made with a blend of vegetables tossed with butter and special pav bhaji masala which  gives a rich taste to the recipe.This recipe is served along with chopped  onions and a slice of lemon to add the crunchy and tangy taste to the Bhaji.




I tasted this first time in my uncle's house when i went to hyderabad and from then when i ever i go there  i  ask them to buy it for me. Later i enjoyed eating when my mom and aunt prepared for me  and now i am very happy that i am preparing it with my hands. I learnt this from one of the videos in Youtube .This is very simple and gives you a heavenly taste.

Ingredients:
  • Pav : 6
  • Potatoes : 2
  • Capsicum : 2 tblspn chopped
  • Cauliflower  florets : 1/4 cup
  • Green peas : 1/2 cup
  • Tomatoes : 2 chopped
  • Onions : 2 chopped
  • Ginger-garlic paste : 1/2 tblspn
  • Salt : as per taste
  • Red chilli powder : as per taste
  • Turmeric : a pinch
  • Asefoetida : a pinch
  • Butter : 4 tblspn
  • Coriander leaves : 1 small bunch
  • Pav bhaji masala : 2 tblspn
  • Kasuri methi ( dry fenugreek leaves) : 1 tblspn
  • Lemon juice : 1 tblspn
Procedure :

Making of Bhaji:
  1. Place a heavy bottomed vessel , add  capsicum and little water to make the capsicum become tender.
  2. Add chopped tomatoes , mashed aloo , boiled cauliflower , boiled green peas , and little more water to let them become soft.
  3. Add salt ,chilli powder ,1/4 spoon ginger -garlic paste , pinch turmeric , 1 tblspn butter ,coriander leaves , 1/2 tblspn pav bhaji masala and mash them well till the vegetables are not recognised and the oil starts seperating from it.Add little more water if necessary.
  4. Heat 1 tblspn of butter in another pan , add chopped onions , pinch of asefoetida ,  a big pinch of chilli powder , 1 tblspn of pav bhaji masala  and kasuri methi. Fry it till the onions become tender.
  5. Mix  vegetables mixture to the onions and mash it patiently till everything in the bhaji becomes very soft.
  6. When the bhaji becomes very soft turn of the stove and add lemon juice to it.

Frying Pav:
  1. Heat butter in a pan , pinch of chilli powder , big pinch of pav bhaji masala ,few corriander leaves.
  2. Cut the pav in the middle and spread the pav in the pan along with the butter and roast it on both the sides.
  3. Serve hot with bhaji , chopped onions ,chopped coriander leaves and lemon.
